Privacy Policy for the StoryGo Keeper Chrome Extension

Welcome to the StoryGo Keeper Chrome Extension (the “Extension”), provided by Open Mind AS (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information in relation to our Extension.

This policy applies specifically to the StoryGo Keeper Extension. The use of the data once it is imported into the main StoryGo software-as-a-service platform (the “Service”) is governed by the StoryGo Customer Agreement between your organization and Open Mind AS.

1. The Purpose of the Extension

The StoryGo Keeper Extension has a single purpose: to allow authenticated users of the StoryGo platform to capture the content of a webpage and import it into their StoryGo workspace for journalistic research and content creation.

2. What Information We Collect and Why

We only collect the information that is absolutely necessary for the Extension to function. Data is only collected when you explicitly choose to use the Extension’s features.

A. Information You Provide:

  • API Key: To connect the Extension to your StoryGo account, you must provide an API key generated from within your user settings in the StoryGo platform. This key is stored locally in your browser’s storage for the Extension and is used solely to authenticate you and ensure your imported content is sent to the correct account.

B. Information We Collect When You Use the Extension:

When you are on a webpage and click the “Import current page” button, the Extension collects the following data from that specific page:

  • The full HTML source code of the page: This is the core content you wish to save to the StoryGo platform.

  • The URL of the page: This is collected to provide a source reference for the content within the StoryGo platform.

We do not collect any data automatically. The Extension does not track your browsing history or collect any information in the background. Data is only collected and transmitted when you actively click the “Import current page” button.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information collected is used exclusively to provide the Extension’s core functionality:

  • Your API Key is used to authenticate your request with the StoryGo platform.

  • The HTML source code and URL are transmitted to the StoryGo platform, where they are processed and saved as content in your personal or team workspace for your use.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Sub-processors

We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties for marketing purposes.

To provide our service, we use trusted third-party sub-processors to handle the data you import. When you send webpage content to the StoryGo platform, it is processed and stored by the following partners:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): Used for secure data processing and storage.

  • Google: Used for data processing. The content of your imported pages is not stored by Google.

Our engagement with these sub-processors is governed by strict data protection terms.

5. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously.

  • Your API key is stored locally on your computer within the Extension’s secure storage and is never transmitted for any purpose other than authentication.

  • All data transmitted from the Extension to our servers (including the API key, HTML, and URL) is sent over a secure, encrypted HTTPS connection.

6. Data Retention and Your Choices

  • API Key: Your API key is stored locally for as long as you use the Extension. You can delete it at any time through the Extension’s settings page, or by uninstalling the Extension.

  • Imported Webpage Content: Once webpage content is successfully imported into the StoryGo platform, it is considered “Customer Content.” Its retention is governed by the terms of your organization’s subscription and the settings configured for your account. Generally, this content is retained until your organization’s subscription ends, unless specific deletion rules are configured. If imported content is used as a source for a Story you create in the platform, it will be retained until it is unlinked from the Story or the Story itself is deleted.

7. Relationship to the StoryGo Customer Agreement

This Privacy Policy describes the data practices of the Extension itself.

Once your data is successfully transmitted and stored within the main StoryGo platform, it becomes “Customer Content.” The subsequent processing, security, management, and confidentiality of that data are governed by the StoryGo Customer Agreement and the associated Data Processing Addendum (DPA) in place between Open Mind AS and your organization.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
